This is going to be a short article outlining some updates regarding the newsletter as I prepare to cover the 2025 year in gaming and continue my articles on video game history.
New Subscribers and Life Update
Surprisingly, I’ve gained some new subscribers in the past six months, the most I’ve gained since I started this about two years ago. For those who are new, I appreciate the interest and support for the 1UP Vault newsletter. If you didn’t know, the past four months have been crazy for me. First, we had a hurricane that passed through us, then the stress of the election results, followed up with a burst pipe in my house. It’s been a stressful time, and I’ve struggled to have the output of articles I’ve wanted through it all. As this article is published, we have bought and are ready to install new tile flooring in our house. We’ve been walking around concrete flooring after the pipe was fixed. There’s still more to do, but I can finally see the end of the whole ordeal and am glad to move past it.
A Set Schedule
I'm committed to a set and official schedule for the releases on 1UP Vault. So, starting in the first week of February, I will release two to three articles a week. I plan on consistently publishing on Tuesday and Thursday, but I also want to leave the other weekdays open for sudden reactions or reviews. My main focus is still my History of gaming series, as well as my Strachey’s List series. While my plan is two articles a week, I hope to eventually increase that to three a week by the end of the year.
Reviews and 2025 in Gaming
I will release a “State of Gaming” series looking at the big three platforms (Nintendo, PlayStation, and Xbox) and what 2025 is bringing for them. I also recently released my first review of the year (Indiana Jones and the Great Circle), and I made a quick note, in the beginning, outlining my plans to make my reviews a little quicker and more focused on my enjoyment of the game. I’m looking forward to the year when it comes to gaming. It’s stacked, and I will do everything I can to play as much as possible to get a handle on the year properly and have better lists by the end of it.
I’m also making minor tweaks to the cover sheet and adding a report card at the end of my reviews. If I feel the need to make a small change to the look and style of something regarding 1UP Vault, I will.
The Reel Lounge and Other Projects
Once again, for those who don’t know, my brother and I have a podcast called The Reel Lounge. We livestream our recording on Friday nights at 9 p.m. It’s not a gaming-related podcast, but we discuss games and movies. The idea is that it's basically me and my brother talking about some subjects that include movies, games, and sports. So, if you’re interested, look up The Reel Lounge podcast or try to check out the live stream on YouTube.
I have other projects beyond the newsletter that I want to make a reality this year. I’m looking into having my own website to easily archive my articles and make it easier to read older ones. I’m also interested in potentially starting a gaming-focused podcast that keeps it to about thirty minutes.
I really appreciate the support. When I started this thing, it was a way to talk about my favorite medium and hobby, and the fact that several people are interested in reading my stuff is a bit shocking, so please accept my gratitude because I genuinely appreciate it. With the scary and frustrating news that will come around for a while, I want 1UP Vault to be somewhere where all gaming fans can learn the history of video games and talk about the industry overall. I hope to provide that necessary escapism. Let’s make 2025 a hell of a good year.
