Life and Updates
So I’m pretty pumped for the next couple of months. I wasn’t too happy with my output the last two months, especially after the great amount I put out back in March. However, this is going to be a packed month for gaming news, and I’m working to make this my most successful month yet. Last update, I hit 100 subscribers, and now I’m up to 130+, which I’m really happy about. I do have a slight announcement for the final week of June and the first week of July. On the final weekend (Death Stranding launch weekend), I will be at Disney World with my family to celebrate my daughter’s sixth birthday. So, I’m going to take that time to enjoy being around my family and taking a break. That week will still have two articles, but that first week of July, I’m going to leave it empty and use it as a break.
As for reviews and games, I recently posted my review for Doom: The Dark Ages, and I think I’ll have a review for Blue Prince next week. I love the concept for Blue Prince, but I'm pretty mixed on the execution. As for what’s next? I have Death Stranding 2, but I won’t be able to play it until my Disney vacation. So, until then, I’m going to look at the NSO service for a Nintendo game that’s been a blind spot for me, as I’ve been wanting a Nintendo experience lately.
Gaming Christmas and Switch 2 Launch!
June is what I call “Gaming Christmas” now that E3 is over. We got several game reveal events, including the big ones: Summer Games Fest, Xbox Showcase, and Nintendo Direct. I have a feeling this one is going to be one to remember. Nintendo kicks it off with a new system in the Nintendo Switch follow-up. Unfortunately, I won’t be able to get one right now, but I’m still going to eat up the launch hype and coverage because it’s a new console when console launches are getting bigger gaps. This will be the last new console from Nintendo until the early 2030s. The launch window lineup is okay, but with the summer events, I expect plenty of announcements to create more excitement. I know the moment they show the next 3D Mario, I’m going to go nuts for it.
Geoff is going to have to deliver a solid SGF after last year’s horrible showing. It was reported that Geoff was in a bad mood when people saw him, and I’m guessing that’s because he knew the show was lackluster. I will give Geoff this, lately he has been good at telling people to temper their expectations, and he actually hasn’t done that this time around, which makes me believe it’s going to be a good one. We could see Final Fantasy IX Remake and Resident Evil 9, and we might get one surprise megaton reveal. We know now that the new 007 game (apparently titled First Light) is going to be shown this weekend, and I’m going to be interested to see how IO Interactive pulls this off. After the Indiana Jones success, I want to see James Bond have his most successful video game adaptation since the iconic GoldenEye. Lastly, but not least, I think we'll see the new Tomb Raider game, which has been in development for a while. I want to see if this ties to the recent Origins trilogy or if it decides to go a new direction.
The Xbox Showcase has been solid the last few years, so the hype meter for this one is starting to pick up. I know there are a lot of questions regarding Xbox hardware and its future, but either way, we’re going to get a lot of great game announcements. I hope to see substantial gameplay for Fable; the last two trailers were impressive, but it’s time to see this game in action. Gears of War: E-Day is expected to make an appearance here, and we’ll see how it looks and whether the rumors of a release at the end of the year are true. Also, I’m going to predict that Everwild finally shows itself here, and there’s an off chance that we maybe (clown makeup on) get Silksong as well. Perfect Dark could also appear here, with a 2026 release date attached. There’s a part of me that wants to say Blade shows up here, but I’m thinking it won’t show up just yet, and while I do believe we’ll eventually get something Banjo-Kazooie related, I think that’s a year or two away from any reveal. Outside of that, I’m excited to see what we get, and it should be another great showing by the green guys.
Happy Pride Month
For all the subscribers and followers who are part of the LGBTQ+ community, happy Pride Month. It’s been tough throughout the United States for the community, and I want you to know I’ll always have your back. Don’t let the haters get you down. Just be you.
Be Nice to All
Great work shooting past the hundred subs! Congrats. Enjoy the break and Disney World.
I love the term you coined “gaming Christmas”. Disney world is on our list in the next couple of years. I hope you have an amazing time. Looking forward to your coverage of the events and show cases.
Also great shout out for pride month. I always forget because our parade here is in August for some reason but June is a big deal for visibility and support of the LGBTQ+ community and I think it’s great you put a note as well. 💚
